2008 Pinot Noir & Pinot Noir Reserve Released!

2008 Mahonia Vineyard Pinot Noir Reserve wine labelOur 2008 Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Reserve were released at the Memorial Weekend Wine Tasting. 2008 was widely considered to be the best vintage of the last 20 years, and our most recent offerings support that opinion!

The 2008 Pinot Noir is wonderfully balanced and intensely varietal, with dark fruit tones and secondary aromas and flavors of soil and dried herbs.

Our 2008 Pinot Noir Reserve is especially unique, having been aged in 50% Hungarian oak. Deep ruby in color and shows intense aromas of black raspberry and plum, with a hint of smoke imparted by the Hungarian oak.

Stop by, visit the website or give us a call to order yours now - quantities are very limited, as only 50 cases of each were produced!

Our Memorial Weekend tasting weekend was fantastic; among the visitors were a group of local wine enthusiasts who posted about their tour in a blog.

Also, we recently hosted a lovely afternoon with the "Salem Green Professionals" here at the nursery and vineyard. Michelle Andujar of the Salem Weekly joined us, and wrote a fantastic article that you can read here.

Photos of the tasting weekend are now up in the gallery!

Mahonia Vineyards & Nursery is proudly participating in two innovative, volunteer projects to reduce the carbon footprint of our vineyard and nursery operations: The Oregon Carbon Neutral Challenge Initiative (OCNCI) and The Climate Friendly Nurseries Project (CFNP).

The Oregon Carbon Neutral Challenge Initiative (OCNCI):

We are one of only fourteen Oregon wineries and vineyards participating in the Initiative. The initiative's central goals are to reduce our carbon emissions, demonstrate leadership (both on a State level and nationally), promote practical solutions to climate change and to protect the land for generations to come.

The Carbon Neutral Challenge is the only joint industry initiative in the US to manage and reduce carbon emissions. The participating wineries are the first US wineries to do so as a group. It also significantly increases the number of wineries that have completed a program to measure, reduce and offset their GHGs (formally, just 2 in the Country).
